Sajda-Inter-Institutional Competitions

Guru Nanak Khalsa College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Matunga, Mumbai   in association   with  Maharashtra Sikh Association (Regd.) , Maharashtra State Punjabi Sahitya Academy and Guru Gobind Singh Vidhyak Sanstha, Vikhroli organized inter-school and inter-collegiate competitions to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji on 10th August 2019. The theme of the competition was ‘Relevance of teachings of Guru Nanak Devji in Modern Times’.

• Shri Ashish Shelar, Minister of School Education, Sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Maharastra was the Chief Guest of the event.
• Sardar Bhupinder Singh Manhas, President Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Saheb, Nanded was the Guest of Honour.

The following competitions were held and students were judged in two categories-below 15 and above 15 age group.
1)Poetry Recitation          2) Gurbani Shudh Ucharan            3)Elocution           4) Saakhi Narration            5)Gurumukhi Quiz       6) Animation

    • Vice-Principal, Dr. Davinderpal Kaur Bhasin anchored the programme, Dr. Ravinder Cheema introduced the Hon’ble minister, Dr. Ranjeet Kaur announced the prize winners and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Harmeet Kaur Kohli.
    • Around 230 students from 25 schools and colleges of Mumbai participated in the various competitions. 
    • All the participants were given certificate of participation.   
    • The winners were given memento's, certificates and were awarded with cash prize of Rs. 2100 for first prize and Rs. 1100 for second prize.
    • Sumptuous breakfast and lunch was served to all.
    • The entire event was covered by different media houses- Prime Asia TV Canada, Aawaz National News, Prime Canada, etc
