Junior College

FIRST YEAR

Qualifying examination required: SSC examination of MSBSHSE or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto.

Documents required: Original and attested photocopy of SSC marksheet / School leaving Certificate / SSC Passing Certificate.

Remarks: Those passing the ICSE / CBSE or SSC of any other Board / University, have to submit the ‘PROVISIONAL ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE’ from the MSBSHSE. Final Eligibility Certificate is to be submitted by the end of the first term.


SECOND YEAR

Qualifying examination required: FYJC Examination of any Junior college recognized by MSBSHSE

Documents required: Original and attested photocopy of FYJC marksheet.

Remarks: Students from other institutions will be required to submit their leaving / Transfer Certificate, Migration Certificate.


VOCATIONAL STREAM

F.Y.J.C. students can offer a Vocational Course in ‘Electronics Technology’ consisting of two languages (Two papers of 100 marks each),

‘General Foundation Course’ (Two papers of 50 marks each) and ‘Electronics Technology’ (Three papers of 100 marks each).

Students completing this course with 1st class can directly join second year Diploma in Engineering. This course is meant for those seeking self employment and employment in the electronics industry. These students can also continue their higher studies in B.A., B.COM, B.SC., BMS, etc


DEGREE COLLEGE

General Eligibility Criteria


B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com

FIRST YEAR

Qualifying examination required: SY JC Examination of MSBSHSE or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto as per eligibility norms presented by Mumbai University on their website www.mu.ac.in.


SECOND YEAR

A student of F.Y. Arts and Commerce is eligible to take admission in S.Y.(Sem III) if he has cleared all the courses of Sem I and Sem II or has failed in not more than four courses in the Sem I & Sem II taken together. (However, the student should not fail in more than two courses in each semester.)

A student of F.Y. Science is eligible to take admission in S.Y. (Sem III) if he has cleared all the courses of Sem I and Sem II or has failed in not more than six courses in Sem I and Sem II taken together but has failed in not more than three courses in each semester.

The students who have cleared the first year ATKT examination are also eligible for admission to the second year as per University norms.


THIRD YEAR

Qualifying examination required: Second Year Examination of the University of Mumbai or any examination recognized as equivalent thereto. (The rules of ATKT in force, if any, will be applicable)

SELF FINANCE COURSES


B.Sc. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) - Eligibility

FIRST YEAR

Should have passed XII standard examination from Maharashtra Board or it’s equivalent with Mathematics and Statistics as one of the subject and should have secured not less then 50% marks in aggregate for open category, 40% marks in aggregate in case of reserved category candidate.


SECOND YEAR

Should have passed Diploma (Three years after S.S.C. i.e X std.) in Information Technology / Computer Technology / Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Electrical, Electronics, Video Engineering and allied branches. Mechanical and allied branches / Civil and allied branches of Engineering are eligible for direct admission to the second year of the B.Sc. (I.T.) degree course.


OR


Candidates with post HSC – Diploma in Information Technology / Computer Technology / Computer Engineering / Computer Science / and allied branches will be eligible for direct admission to the second year of B.Sc. (I.T).

Diploma should be recognized by the Board of Technical Education or any other recognized Govt. body. Minimum marks required: 45% aggregate for open category candidates and 40% aggregate for reserved category candidate


B.Sc. COMPUTER SCIENCE (CS) - Eligibility

FIRST YEAR

Should have passed XII standard examination from Maharashtra Board or its equivalent with Science stream and with Mathematics & Statistics as one of the subject.


B.COM:

ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE (BAF)- Eligibilty

FIRST YEAR

A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Finance) degree course shall have passed XII std. examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate at first attempt (40% in case of reserved category). Every candidate admitted to the Degree course in the constituent / affiliated college, recognized institution, conducting the course, shall have to register himself / herself with the University.


BANKING AND INSURANCE (BBI) - Eligibility

FIRST YEAR

B.Sc. BIOTECHNOLOGY (BIOTECH) - Eligibility

FIRST YEAR

Mathematics as one of the subjects at XII Science. Provisional admission will be given if Mathematics is not of the subjects XII Science till the student clears the Mathematics proficiency test.


BMM BACHELOR OF MASS MEDIA (BMM) - Eligibility

A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the degree course in Bachelor of Mass Media shall have passed XII std. examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent, from the Science, Arts or Commerce streams.


BMS BACHELOR OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES (BMS) - Eligibility

A candidate, for being eligible for admission to the BMS degree course shall have passed HSC examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination or Diploma in any Engineering branches with two years or three years duration after SSC, conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra state or its equivalent examination by securing minimum 45% marks for general category (in one attempt) at the respective examination and minimum 40% marks for the reserved category (in one attempt).


FIVE YEAR INTEGRATED COURSE IN M.SC. BIOANALYTICAL SCIENCES

Qualifying examination required: SY JC Examination of MSBSHSE or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto as per eligibility norms presented by Mumbai University on their website www.mu.ac.in. Min 50% marks in H.Sc. examination.


REMARKS:


Students from other institutions will be required to submit their leaving / Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate. Those passing the First Year from any other Board / University have to submit the ‘PROVISIONAL ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE’ from the University of Mumbai. Final Eligibility Certificate is to be submitted by the end of first term.

Documents required: Original and attested photocopy of the SYJC & First Year( Both Semesters or ATKT) marksheets & proof of residence.


PASSING STANDARD


Eligibility for clearing each semester is 40% marks in each paper.

Students are required to have 75% attendance as per University norms.

Ph. D. Programme


A. ADMISSION PROCESS:-

a) Candidates who have passed the PhD Entrance Test (PET) conducted by the University of Mumbai in the concerned subject and those who are exempted from the PET under clause no. 9 of No. Exam./Thesis/Univ./VCD/2414 of 2010 as mentioned below shall apply in the prescribed form along with their photograph, photocopies of certificates of date of birth, educational qualifications and proof for qualifying/exemption to PET and submit to the Principal’s office.

Note: Clause 9. EXEMPTION FROM Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST (PET):-

Candidates fulfilling one of the following criteria shall be exempted from Ph.D. entrance test (PET).

• Qualified in GATE / SET / NET / (JRF) Examination / teacher fellowship holder of the apex bodies as CSIR / UGC / ICAR / ICMR / DBT only.

• Completed an M. Phil. Degree from University of Mumbai as per the UGC guidelines from time to time.

• Completed an M. Phil. Degree from any other recognized Universities in India as per the UGC guidelines from time to time.

Also,

1. M Sc research students willing to work under the same guide and on the same topic are exempted from PET.

2. Approved teachers appointed in the University or affiliated colleges having not less than 5 years full time continuous teaching experience after the date of first approval of appointment of University of Mumbai are exempted from PET.


b) After scrutiny (for eligibility) by the Research Committee, the applications of eligible candidates will be forwarded to the Heads of department for conducting subject-wise interviews in March and September. The list of eligible candidates who are invited for interviews shall be displayed on the college website/ Departmental Notice Board.


c) The Heads of the Department shall constitute subject-wise interview committees to Interview the eligible candidates. The committee will consist of the following members, as per the UGC guidelines.

• Principal (Chairman)

• Two Subject Experts (from the affiliated colleges /industry / Research institutes)

• Head of Department

• Research Guide/s

• One approved teacher not below the rank of Reader from the reserved category of the concerned faculty.


d) The list of the selected candidates shall be displayed on the Departmental notice board / College website and also communicated to the qualified candidates.


B. SCHEDULE OF Ph.D. INTERVIEW/ PRESENTATION:-

a) The Ph.D. Interview/ Presentation will be conducted by various departments twice in a year i.e.in March and September.


b) Heads of the respective department shall communicate the subject-wise vacancies of the Ph. D. seats to Research Section of the College office 30 days before the date of Interview / Presentation. All such subject-wise vacancies of Ph. D. seats will be published on the College website by the Research section and also on Departmental Notice Board by heads of respective department.


c) Applications in the prescribed format (available with the Research Section of College and also at College website) will be invited from interested candidates within 20 days from the date of notification on the College website.


d) The list of successful candidates after interview/ Presentation will be declared on the College website as well to the individuals within ten (10) days from the date of the Interview/ Presentation.


C. ALLOCATION OF SUPERVISOR (RESEARCH GUIDE):-

a) The allocation of the supervisor for a selected student shall be decided upon by the

Selection committee of the interview in a formal manner depending on the number of students per faculty member, the available specialization among the faculty supervisors and the research interest of the student as indicated by the student during interview.


D. PROVISIONAL ADMISSION:-

a) The successful candidates can take provisional admission by completing other formalities.

Free Studentship / Scholarship

Students can avail following Free Studentship / Scholarship. Students can avail only either Scholarship or Freeship (not both).

1) Girls’ Free studentship: for Girl Student of Junior College only (XI & XII only)

Eligibility:

  • The applicant Girl student should be up to first three children;

  • Should be the resident of Maharashtra for at least 15 years.

  • Documents required: (at the time of admission)

  • Attested copies of Student’s Birth Certificate;

  • Proof of residence in Maharashtra for 15 years – i.e., any 15 years old (Electricity/ Phone Bill/ House Rent Receipt/Father’s Service Certificate.

2) Primary Teachers Free studentship/ Secondary Teachers Free studentship

Eligibility:

  • Parent must be a permanent Primary or Secondary School Teacher.

  • A copy of Current year’s Fee Receipt.
